Shooting the Moon

So as of late, I have finished a gunmetal gray scarf, as well as a black baby cowl. They are so cute. I'm hoping that they'll get more of those yummy deep fall colors at the stores so I can make more of those opposed to colors they've had in stores forever. Guess we'll see, huh? I'm loving this hunter green yarn...definitely going to be the new project.

I'm currently listening to the New Moon Soundtrack, and am seriously feeling inspired. I know it sounds so very cliche, but I really want to visit Forks, WA and of course, Seattle. There's just something about that cloudy state that is making my heart flutter. The lush greens of the trees and surrounding vegetation, layering and all things having to do with cold weather. As much as I don't like having to live in that constantly, visiting it is perfectly ok by me =)

Blah blah blah blah.

So I'm working on a black cowl scarf right now...perfect for the girl that loves dark colors or the guy that wants to be fashion forward and warm at the same time!! If you haven't already...go check out the cowl scarves I currently have up for sale! I even have a baby/kids size one. I just added the plum cowl which is gorgeous!! I just finished a headband out of the same color, but will need to make the flower before I can put that one up. I think it would look lovely on a child or an adult! I do have a burnt orange one up for sale though currently. Now head on over to catiecc.etsy.com already!!

It's been awhile...

Haven't been too busy in the past month, moved back to California and have just been working on small projects. I've knitted two new cowl scarves which are now for sale in my etsy shop (catiecc.etsy.com) as well as a baby/kids size cowl scarf. I'm now working on a new knitted headband in plum/raspberry. It's going to be a gorgeous fall piece! I'm also working on the opening cocktail dress for a friend of mine who is running for Miss Maine USA! She's going to knock 'em dead of course...can't wait to see it on her!

That's about all that's been going on so far! Please check out my etsy shop and look at what's new for fall!!

Hybrid Couture- Wedding Style!

So for the past month and a half, I had been working on a 100% bamboo knit wedding dress! It came out beautifully, and fits the bride perfectly. The fabric is wonderful to work with, and I plan on making more and more items out of it! This was my second wedding dress project...maybe there's more to come! I'll post pictures as soon as I can, I'll be photographing her wedding on August 8th so I'll get plenty of great shots!

West Market Festival 2009

The West Market Festival was a hit! There were sooo many people there this year...and I was glad a lot of people I care about were able to make it as well! My models did a fantastic job, they looked absolutely flawless on the runway. Everything turned out beautifully...I was so proud! Here's some pictures from my show.

West Market Festival!

Next Saturday, June 6th is the West Market Festival! My show will be at 3:15pm. I'm really excited! My summer line is coming along great, I've got some cute dresses and outfits to show. I've also been making some handbags that I'm hoping to sell. I'm still looking around for models for my show...I've only got about 5! Hopefully I'll get some replies this week. Hope to see a lot of people come out for the show, I'll be sticking around so feel free to come up to me and chat =)

A Trunk Show and a Fashion Show

So two upcoming events are a Trunk Show at Bella Luna (date TBD) and the West Market Festival on June 6th. I've got a lot of work to do...but I can't WAIT to show my summer line at the festival and pump out some cute things for the trunk show! I'm thinking of doing a Hybrid Couture Baby line for the trunk show...who wouldn't want their little cutie in eco-friendly garb??

Busy Busy!

I just got a client who wants me to make a really elegant cocktail dress for a very special occasion. I'm really excited to do it, it's going to turn out beautifully! We're getting the fabric and supplies today so I can get moving on it, it has to be finished in two weeks!

On top of that, I've been doing some major research for my upcoming shows. I've been tearing out ideas from magazines and looking at fabrics. I need to figure out what I need for the shows so I can order the fabrics and get going on that soon too!

Needless to say, I'll be busy for the next few months. I have my daugther's 1st birthday next month and then we're visiting California. The month after that there's a show and then after that there's another show! I'm hoping that these shows really help my business take off, even if it's just custom orders or selling a few things in local boutiques. I plan on making my way down to Bar Harbor to visit Danielle at Macey's so I can sell some of my items there!

2009 Resolutions...

So I'm very late on actually writing down my goals for this year, but I know it's important to do it so I can get myself motivated and have a vision in mind. I've already started on two of them, and they're both HUGE things so I'm very happy about that. Here's the list:

Participate in any event that has fashion shows
Sell handmade items in local boutiques (Bella Luna)
Have a exercise regimen- and stick with it!
Get my portfolio together
Get rid of clothes I don't like or wear
Re-build wardrobe with basics
Have more "date nights"
Get fresh flowers once a week
Get new bed/furniture/decorations for rooms
Move into a good-sized apartment
Join a mommy group of some sort to meet new people
Read a new book every month

As I think of more things, I'll post them up. But here's a general list. I think it's a good start!

Update

I haven't updated in a long long time. But things have been very busy. I briefly moved back to California for 6 months only to move back to Maine in the middle of December. In January I had a fashion show at the Bangor Meltdown, and I thought it was a success. It sure did get my name out there! I was mentioned in several newspaper articles, and now a featured artist on http://www.mainemaven.com. I had another fashion show on Valentine's Day at the Bangor Opera House. It featured lingerie made out of clothing that I had gotten from friends. Everything came out amazingly and I got great photos to show for it from Michael Weston. I'll be having another show at the Bangor Meltdown in May and at the West Market Festival in June. I have big big plans for both! Hybrid Couture will be the feature at the West Market Festival, featuring sustainable clothing in the fashion of rockabilly/50's style pinup. It's going to be fabulous. I'll have more updates on the shows as I get them, but I just thought I'd do a little update and tell you what's going on in my fashion world!
