A Trunk Show and a Fashion Show
So two upcoming events are a Trunk Show at Bella Luna (date TBD) and the West Market Festival on June 6th. I've got a lot of work to do...but I can't WAIT to show my summer line at the festival and pump out some cute things for the trunk show! I'm thinking of doing a Hybrid Couture Baby line for the trunk show...who wouldn't want their little cutie in eco-friendly garb??

Busy Busy!
I just got a client who wants me to make a really elegant cocktail dress for a very special occasion. I'm really excited to do it, it's going to turn out beautifully! We're getting the fabric and supplies today so I can get moving on it, it has to be finished in two weeks!
On top of that, I've been doing some major research for my upcoming shows. I've been tearing out ideas from magazines and looking at fabrics. I need to figure out what I need for the shows so I can order the fabrics and get going on that soon too!
Needless to say, I'll be busy for the next few months. I have my daugther's 1st birthday next month and then we're visiting California. The month after that there's a show and then after that there's another show! I'm hoping that these shows really help my business take off, even if it's just custom orders or selling a few things in local boutiques. I plan on making my way down to Bar Harbor to visit Danielle at Macey's so I can sell some of my items there!

2009 Resolutions...
So I'm very late on actually writing down my goals for this year, but I know it's important to do it so I can get myself motivated and have a vision in mind. I've already started on two of them, and they're both HUGE things so I'm very happy about that. Here's the list:
Participate in any event that has fashion shows
Sell handmade items in local boutiques (Bella Luna)
Have a exercise regimen- and stick with it!
Get my portfolio together
Get rid of clothes I don't like or wear
Re-build wardrobe with basics
Have more "date nights"
Get fresh flowers once a week
Get new bed/furniture/decorations for rooms
Move into a good-sized apartment
Join a mommy group of some sort to meet new people
Read a new book every month
As I think of more things, I'll post them up. But here's a general list. I think it's a good start!

Update
I haven't updated in a long long time. But things have been very busy. I briefly moved back to California for 6 months only to move back to Maine in the middle of December. In January I had a fashion show at the Bangor Meltdown, and I thought it was a success. It sure did get my name out there! I was mentioned in several newspaper articles, and now a featured artist on http://www.mainemaven.com. I had another fashion show on Valentine's Day at the Bangor Opera House. It featured lingerie made out of clothing that I had gotten from friends. Everything came out amazingly and I got great photos to show for it from Michael Weston. I'll be having another show at the Bangor Meltdown in May and at the West Market Festival in June. I have big big plans for both! Hybrid Couture will be the feature at the West Market Festival, featuring sustainable clothing in the fashion of rockabilly/50's style pinup. It's going to be fabulous. I'll have more updates on the shows as I get them, but I just thought I'd do a little update and tell you what's going on in my fashion world!

How I'd Like Life To End Up...
Rachill, Andrew, Baby Riley, and I will drive across country to California, making a few stops to see friends along the way. We'll end up on the Central Coast in California, where Rachill, Baby Riley, and I will spend the summer. Andrew will be off at BASIC training for the Marines. We'll move to San Diego, and we'll all get a really posh apartment in Mission Valley. We'll spend afternoons in Balboa Park or at the beach. We'll go to farmers market in Ocean Beach every Wednesday. We'll brunch on Sundays. We'll read and play in the park. I'll create a collection of eco-friendly lingerie that I will sell at Thread. I'll make friends with local designers and go to the many fashion events they have there.
I can't wait for June. That's when all of this will start happening.

It may be gloomy outside...
But in the Kahl house, spring cleaning is taking place, and my nesting instinct definitely kicks at least a few times a week. I've got all of the baby's stuff ready as well as my hospital bag. I definitely need to start working on some sewing projects, whether they are for myself or to sell in my etsy or fashionspace shop. My name needs to be heard! I have so many great ideas, they just need to be created and showed to the world. Anyway I just wanted to come on here and write my first blog...I have a few things I had started to sell in my etsy shop but no one has bought anything =(. Help a girl out....especially one with big BIG dreams of selling her clothing/bags to be able to help support her little family. Go check out my shop and look a the few things I have to offer. There will be some more items up really really soon! Thanks for stopping by =)
